Hot Stone Massage

As its name suggests, a hot stone massage involves using heated stones. Massage Romantic massage therapists use heated river stones or lava shells, as they are smooth and retain heat exceptionally well.

There are various different hot stone massage techniques, and some will depend on the individual therapist. Generally though, the stones are placed on the body in specific spots, either guided anatomically or on energy points believed to help aid balance and flow. Beyond leaving the stones in place, the therapist will also use the stones to perform Swedish massage techniques, such as kneading, long smooth strokes, and rolling.
